  • Baby J is just growing and growing.  He now has his first tooth.  James was so excited when he discovered it that he woke me up.  Normally I don't like being woken up when I have to work that night but this was one of those times that it was okay.  He looks so cute when he smiles with his one little half baby tooth.  Thankfully he wasn't too fussy while he was teething.  Just lots and lots of drool.  He is a pretty laid back baby but then so was L and now I have drama, drama, and more drama with him.
In my quest to be a good mother I started a baby photo album for baby J.  I can't seem to keep up with the baby book.  I don't even know I why I get them.  Baby J's baby book has about as much written in it as L's has.  I'm just not good at that.  So I printed out a lot of his photos and started putting them in date order.  It was neat to see how much he has changed over the last 7 months.  L has gotten to the age where it takes longer to notice changes in him.
L got in trouble this last week and was in for some old fashioned grounding.  He had everything taken away and got to sit on his bed only until bed time.  I think the punishment was much needed.  He has been a little twerp lately and this seems to have corrected his attitude.  He was not happy about though, he threw a fit in his room to rival any 2 year olds tantrum.  I guess that is the nice thing about having an upstairs.  L is a good kid but sometimes I just wonder what alien has possessed him.
My life is going to be busy the next few weeks with education classes and extra shifts.  I am hoping to be on days by this fall and starting to go back to school.

  • Baby J and other things

Lately baby J has been sleeping on his tummy.  I find this interesting because when I put him on his tummy a lot of time he fusses.  If he does it on his own he seems okay with it.  Now that he rolls both ways easily he seems to want to roll to his tummy when he is ready to sleep.  I can’t believe how much he has changed since he was born.  I miss him being so little and sleeping on me.  Although I don’t miss getting up to feed him at night.   I think he will be crawling soon.  He moves around so much on his mat and he is starting to pull his knees underneath him.  I need to go buy baby gates for the stairs so we get used to them before we really need them.  I’m trying to get him to say mama but he just laughs at me.  Apparently it is funny when I say mama.
L is almost done with school for the year.  He informed me this afternoon that he is four weeks away from being done.  I’m kind of looking forward to it.  I’m ready to not have to deal with homework and getting him up for school.  He mostly gets himself up but I make sure he gets out the door on time.  He has decided that he wants to join the school band next year.  He signed up to play the trumpet.  He thought about playing the drums but you have to try because a lot of kids want to and they don’t need that many drummers.  My son is going to band camp this summer.  It is weird thinking that he is old enough to do it.  Since he has signed up he can be in band until he graduates.  If he drops out then he can not rejoin at any time.  I think this will be good for him.
I managed to make it to work tonight only to find out that I was not scheduled to work.  I wrote down my days wrong in my calendar.  I’m sure I am not the only person who has done this but I feel stupid.  So I slept all day today and now I am not sleepy.  Also since I have waited until the last day to take the stupid test I will be up there bright and early to take it.  Good times!

  • Vacation

So we had a great vacation.  Baby J did awesome on the plane.  He didn't fuss or cry during either flight.  The first time he was asleep during the take off but I thought that he would if he were awake.  On the flight home he was awake and still didn't fuss.   We stayed at a resort while we were there.  The downside was that we had to sit through a presentation about buying a time share at the resort.  After two hours we finally were through and had officially told them no.
The day we flew out our flight got there too early to check into our hotel so we headed for the coast.  We checked out the ocean at Cocoa Beach.  L loved it but baby J could have cared less.  We stayed until baby J was tired and cranky.  We had planned to spend Friday at Disney but ended up pushing it to Saturday.  I had worked two in a row the day before we left and had gotten about 45 minutes of sleep before we got up for our flight.  So needless to say by the time Friday rolled around I was exhausted and had a full on allergy attack.  So we hung out by the pool and napped.  Baby J got his first swim in a pool.  It was warmer there than here and the pool was temp controlled.  He absolutely loved the pool.  I think if he took lessons this summer he might learn how to swim.  L of course could have lived in the pool.
Finally Saturday we made it to Disney.  It was so much fun.  Baby J did pretty well.  He sometimes didn't like being in the stoller but we tried to break it up by doing rides that he could go on.  The only time got really fussy was Monday.  It was so hot.  It was in the upper 80's but it was very humid and made it seem hotter.  We rode all the rides that we loved from last time and a few new ones.  I was a little disappointed because the last time we went we got park hopper tickets.  We did this time too but they had added the Animal Kingdom to the park hopper option and I didn't know it until was too late to go.  James and I split up and rode with L.  We had a good time and probably ate too much.  It was a great vacation.

  • Since I'm up anyway

I guess I will update this.  I slept longer than I should have today and now I am up.  This is the bad thing about working nights.  I normally do my schedule for several days in a row but they way it worked out this week I am working every other day.  I have no idea why anyone would want to space there days out like that.  So I am trying to go to the day shift at work.  I love working nights and I will again someday but for now it doesn't work for me.  I am planning to go back to school and so is James.  It is insane to try to work nights, take care of the kids, pay for daycare day and night (I can't get almost no sleep during the day and work all night), and try to function.  So I have asked to move to days.  I am hoping that it will happen by June so maybe I can start classes this summer but we will see.
My life is going to be super busy for the next two weeks.  We are going to Disney on Thursday.  In between that I have to get the house clean, laundry, pack, help with my sister's birthday party, work, and get my house ready for my friend's shower.  I think that I like in a weird way overloading myself.  I'm looking forward to a little vacation but not the flying.  It will be different flying with a baby.  Baby J will be 6 months old in a few days.  I hope that he does well on the flight.  Although we are flying to Orlando so if he does cry he won't be the only kid on the plane doing it.  I think I have it planned out well enough to hopefully avoid any problems.
L has decided that he wants to join the school band next year.  The school sent home forms for school next year.  He gets to pick his elective for next year, sort of.  They asked them to rank their top 3 choices.  It's pretty cool though.  James will have to go the parent info session for band.  I don't mind L doing band I just hope he realizes how much he will have to practice.  L is musically talented which is great and not so great.  He has the ability to pick a song or instrument quickly the bad thing is that once he feels like he knows something he feels like he doesn't need to practice anymore.  It drives me a little nuts.
Baby J is growing.  He is growing a little too fast for me.  I can't believe he is just a few days shy of being 6 months.  He has changed so much.  His personality is really coming out.  He finally managed to roll over from his tummy to his back.  He has been doing the back to tummy thing for awhile but now he can roll both ways.  He still doesn't like being on his tummy except for the other morning when I found him sleeping in his crib on his tummy.  He has started pulling my hair.  That will have to come to a stop quickly.  He is very grabby and it is cute at the moment but I know that it won't be for long.
Alright I am going to wrap this up before I get too frustrated with this laptop.  It has a small keyboard and I have managed to almost delete this a couple of times by hitting the wrong keys.

  • My Anniversary

Well as of this week James and I have been married for 4 years.  On the one hand it seems like it has been a long time and then on the other hand I can't believe that the last 4 years have gone so fast.  So much has changed since we married.  So to celebrate this day we decided to go out to dinner and a movie.  It's been awhile since we have gone to the movies.  We don't go too often because it is so expensive to go and you can always rent it later.  So we went and saw The Watchmen.  I'm not going to give anything away but this was not what I was expecting.  I was expecting something along the line of Spiderman or X-Men.  This movie was not even close.  It was very violent.  So to my surprise I look over before the the movie starts and I see a dad with a 8-10 year old girl were in the theater.  I don't think much about it because again I'm thinking this is going to be like Spiderman.  Well about 20 minutes into the movie I realize that it is not.  Had I brought my child not realizing what this movie was like I would have left.  Needless to say that the movie did not get any better with violence and the dad stayed with his daughter the whole movie.  Everytime something questionable for a child to be watching I was incredibly uncomfortable and I kept expecting the dad to walk out.  Nope they stayed for the whole 3 hour movie.  I had to wonder if her mother knew that she was going to this movie.  I sometimes have to question the judgements of parents.  I will admit I am probably more lax than some parents but this movie was no where close to appropriate for her.  So needless to say James and I talked more about that after we left than the movie.
We tried out a new restraunt too.  We went to Fish City Grill.  It was pretty good.  They had pretty decent prices and the portions weren't too big or too small.  Overall we had a nice night out.  It was good to have sometime together.
